Your new company

A highly successful logistics and supply chain business in Liverpool with an outstanding reputation is seeking an experienced procurement expert to join their growing team as a Category Manager. The business has recently restructured its procurement function to make it an even better performing unit, and you could be a part of this exciting journey.

Your new role

The Category Manager will be responsible for supporting the wider business operations with sustainable and effective procurement and supply chain activity. You will devise and implement category strategies which ultimately deliver value for money and are compliant with relevant procurement legislation. The role will be focused on Category Management including embedding supplier relationship management and the delivery of supply chain strategies and value initiatives. The Category Manager will lead on high-value and long-term procurement projects, and whilst strategically managing this category, you will also be responsible for end-to-end procurement activity from engaging stakeholders, to working closely with the central sourcing team, through to managing supplier relationships. The Category Manager will manage an Assistant Buyer and will be responsible for their performance, 1-2-1 meetings and personal development plans.

This role is based in the office 4 days per week, with the option to work from home 1 day per week.

  • Experience of devising and implementing procurement category strategies
  • Line management or mentoring experience
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills
  • A full UK driving licence
