An established UK manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead and continuously improve HSE performance across a complex, multi-process manufacturing site. This is a highly operational, hands-on role covering foundry, machining, fabrication, assembly and office operations, alongside associated business units.

Reporting into senior site leadership, the HSE Manager will play a key role in embedding a pragmatic, proactive safety culture while ensuring full legal compliance and consistent audit readiness. The role suits a visible, credible HSE leader who can influence at all levels, balance compliance with operational realities, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead and continuously improve health, safety and environmental performance across a complex manufacturing site, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and internal standards.
  • Maintain audit readiness across statutory inspections, regulatory requirements and management systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Act as a visible, hands-on HSE leader, promoting a positive and proactive safety culture and engaging employees and managers at all levels.
  • Oversee risk management processes, ensuring risk assessments, safe systems of work and controls are practical, current and consistently applied.
  • Lead incident investigations, audits and inspections, embedding robust root-cause analysis and effective corrective action.
  • Drive PUWER compliance and equipment safety, working closely with engineering and operations to address machine guarding and emergency stop standards.
  • Support maintenance, facilities and contractor activities, including review and approval of RAMS, SSOW and safe delivery of contractor works.
  • Manage environmental compliance and improvement initiatives, supporting sustainability, waste reduction and emissions control.
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness, fire safety and occupational health programmes, supporting individual risk assessments and return-to-work processes.
  • Report HSE performance and risks to senior leadership, contributing to site-wide strategy, capital planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Proven experience in a senior HSE role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation, including PUWER and risk management. Experienced in audits, inspections and incident investigations. NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification).
