Overview

In this role you will manage tax affairs for a mixed portfolio of business and private clients from a Bristol-based firm. You will support directors and owners with tax-efficient remuneration and oversee complex submissions, while guiding acquisitions, disposals and restructurings. Collaborating with the accounts team, you’ll identify planning opportunities and coach junior colleagues, staying current with evolving tax rules. This is a client-focused, proactive position within a modern, collaborative practice that values quality and advisory impact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tax affairs for a portfolio of business and private clients
  • Support directors and business owners with tax-efficient remuneration planning
  • Prepare and review complex tax submissions and disclosures
  • Assist clients with acquisitions, disposals and restructuring projects
  • Handle correspondence and negotiations with HMRC
  • Collaborate with accounts team to identify tax planning opportunities
  • Conduct technical research and prepare client recommendations
  • Support junior members of the tax department through coaching and training
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing tax legislation and best practice

Key requirements

  • ATT, ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or qualified by experience)
  • Strong background in an accountancy practice or tax consultancy
  • Solid understanding of UK taxation principles
  • Experience dealing directly with clients and managing relationships
  • Ability to interpret technical tax matters and communicate clearly
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
