We have an exciting opportunity to join our recently launched Defence practice in Bristol, playing a key role in the growth of the desk across the South region and wider UK. Defence is a resilient, high‑value market that underpins national security and continues to see significant investment, with projected industry spend increasing from £62bn in 2025/26 to £73bn by 2028/29. The South‑East and South‑West represent the highest defence spend by geography in the UK, creating strong and sustained demand across systems engineering, project and programme management, and wider defence technology disciplines. This role will focus on building an Engineering Defence desk, recruiting for RF Engineers, UI Engineers, Electronic Engineers, Test Leads, Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers. You’ll be stepping into a high‑value Systems Engineering contract desk within the Defence sector, where you’ll win and nurture relationships and place in‑demand, highly skilled professionals across the UK. We’re looking for a commercially driven and ambitious individual who is excited by the opportunity to scale a new practice from the ground up, backed by the scale and reputation of a globally recognised brand like Hays. As a billing Business Manager you will gain exposure to a range of different activities whilst being supported by a structured training and development programme from day one.
