Your new company is a large and well-established public sector organisation based in Bristol seeking an Interim Accounts Receivable Assistant to join its finance team for an initial 6-month+ contract, with the potential for further extension. The organisation plays a vital role in delivering essential services to local communities and is currently managing a range of financial improvement initiatives, leading to increased demand within the accounts receivable function.

Your new role involves supporting the end-to-end sales ledger process and ensuring outstanding balances are managed effectively and collected in a timely manner. Key responsibilities will include:
- Raising and processing invoices accurately and efficiently
- Managing the sales ledger and maintaining customer and stakeholder account records
- Chasing outstanding debt via telephone and email
- Allocating incoming payments and reconciling accounts
- Investigating and resolving invoice and payment queries
- Producing aged debt reports and supporting cash collection activities
- Building strong relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Assisting with month-end reporting and account reconciliations
- Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc finance administration duties
- Ensuring compliance with public sector financial procedures and policies
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in Accounts Receivable, Sales Ledger or Credit Control
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Experience using finance systems such as Oracle, SAP, Dynamics 365 or similar
- A proactive and team-oriented approach
- Knowledge of public sector finance processes would be advantageous
- Availability to start at short notice would be beneficial
In return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate of £14.00 - £18.00 per hour, depending on experience, an initial 6-month interim contract with the potential for extension, a hybrid working arrangement with Bristol-based offices, and the opportunity to work within a respected public sector organisation.
