Hays are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a busy facilities team on a large, multi-building site. This is a hands-on role supporting a high-footfall environment, so you’ll be comfortable being on the move throughout the day, lots of walking, varied plant areas, and a strong mix of reactive maintenance and planned PPMs.
You’ll be part of an on-site engineering function responsible for keeping building services running safely, compliantly, and efficiently, covering electrical work alongside exposure to mechanical systems and water management.
The RoleYou’ll be responsible for:
- Electrical maintenance across a large estate (reactive and PPM)
- Fault-finding, repairs, and first-time fixes to minimise downtime
- Completing PPM schedules to agreed service levels and statutory requirements
- Supporting day-to-day operation of building services including mechanical interfaces and water management systems
- Accurate completion of job sheets / CAFM updates and maintenance records
- Escalating risks, defects, or compliance concerns promptly
- Working to high health & safety standards and site procedures
Essential:
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent)
- Experience in building services / facilities maintenance (or similar large-site environments)
- Strong fault-finding skills and confidence working independently on shift.
- Comfortable with a role involving significant site walking and varied tasks
- A proactive, customer-focused approach in a live operational setting
Desirable (nice to have):
- Experience in large estates / campus environments
- Exposure to water management processes and mechanical plant support
- Familiarity with PPM compliance and reactive SLA environments
£45,000-£47,000 salary
Continental shift pattern: 4 on / 4 off (days) weekdays and weekends
