Your new company is a well-established Tier 1 infrastructure contractor delivering complex transport and highways schemes across the UK. The organisation works in partnership with National Highways and multiple local authorities, providing full lifecycle engineering solutions across major frameworks. Your new role as a Traffic Signals Design Engineer involves playing a key role in the design and delivery of traffic signal schemes ranging from new installations to refurbishments and upgrades. You will support a growing design team working across National Highways and local authority frameworks.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing technically sound traffic signals designs, calculations, drawings and documentation
  • Delivering designs in line with programme, cost and quality requirements
  • Identifying and managing design risks in accordance with CDM regulations
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and suppliers to resolve technical queries
  • Supporting and overseeing junior engineers where appropriate
  • Contributing to bid submissions and wider work-winning activities
  • Promoting and embedding effective health and safety practices

This role can be based from multiple regional offices with hybrid work available.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in traffic signals design, ideally from an assistant or design engineer role
  • Working knowledge of traffic signals design standards, processes and procedures
  • Strong AutoCAD and KeySignals capability
  • Experience using LINSIG for junction modelling
  • Ability to produce detailed signal designs, including controller configuration forms
  • Exposure to Factory and Site Acceptance Testing and commissioning
  • Knowledge of SCOOT UTC and/or MOVA design and validation (desirable)
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and design risk management
