A large and well-established local authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Operations Manager to support the delivery of key public realm and environmental services across one of the UK's largest cities.

Your new role
As Environmental Operations Manager, you will lead and manage a team responsible for protecting public health and the local environment, whilst supporting the delivery of a newly established local investigations function.
The role will involve coordinating responses to environmental and public realm issues across multiple service areas, including waste, highways, environmental enforcement and community concerns.
Working closely with stakeholders, councillors and operational teams, you will ensure environmental issues are identified, investigated and resolved efficiently.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing and developing environmental and enforcement teams
- Overseeing environmental health and regulatory service operations
- Coordinating multi-service responses to environmental issues and public complaints
- Working closely with elected members and senior stakeholders
- Monitoring team performance, workloads and service delivery targets
- Managing investigations, enforcement activity and operational projects
- Supporting the delivery of waste reduction and recycling initiatives
- Preparing reports, performance data and service updates
- Managing budgets, resources and procurement requirements
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, policies and best practice
- What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience managing environmental, regulatory, public realm or local authority operational services
- Strong leadership experience with responsibility for teams, performance management and service delivery
- Sound knowledge of Environmental Health, environmental regulation or enforcement functions
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including local authorities, councillors and community groups
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
- Experience delivering service improvement programmes and operational change initiatives
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, compliance and enforcement processes
- Full UK driving licence
