We are currently supporting a high-performing secondary school in the West Midlands to appoint a Director of Learning (Science) for a September 2026 start. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced middle leader or an ambitious teacher ready to take the next step into leadership within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.
The Role
As Director of Learning, you will play a key role in leading a department and driving high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategic development of the department and driving continuous improvement
- Line managing staff and supporting their professional development through coaching and mentoring
- Developing and implementing an ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum
- Using performance data to monitor progress and raise attainment
- Leading on quality assurance, including lesson visits and evaluation of teaching
- Delivering intervention and enrichment strategies to support all learners
- Managing departmental resources and contributing to whole-school improvement priorities
The Candidate

- Holds QTS and a relevant degree
- Has a proven track record of delivering strong outcomes in the classroom
- Has experience of leading or coordinating a key stage, subject, or team
