Your new company Hays Education are working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school in East London to recruit a talented and passionate Teacher of Music with a specialism in Woodwind for a September 2026 start. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Performing Arts department within a school that places a strong emphasis on creativity, musical excellence and student participation. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering an engaging Music curriculum while helping to further develop the school's instrumental programme, ensembles and performance opportunities. The position would suit an enthusiastic Music Teacher who is an accomplished woodwind musician and is keen to inspire the next generation of performers.
Your new role
- Teach Music across Key Stages 3 and 4, with KS5 available for experienced candidates
- Deliver high-quality, engaging and practical music lessons
- Support and develop the school's woodwind provision and instrumental programmes
- Lead or contribute to bands, orchestras, ensembles and extracurricular music activities
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music assessments where applicable
- Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback to support achievement
- Contribute to concerts, productions, performances and wider school events
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Music within a UK secondary school setting
- Strong practical musicianship with a specialism in one or more woodwind instruments
- Ability to direct ensembles and support instrumental development
- Excellent subject knowledge and passion for music education
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to promoting high standards of teaching, learning and safeguarding
