\n Your new role
\n Reporting to the Transport Manager, the Assistant Transport Manager will be responsible for the 24/7 Transport operations, managing the Transport Team and supporting the Transport Manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget / forecast expectations. Working hours are 4 on 4 off days, 6am-6pm. Manage the Depot Transport staff to execute traffic plans to enable delivery of products to customers within agreed service levels. Reduce non-contract maintenance and damage spent through the use of vehicle passports, daily confirmation of spending, in conjunction with other depots. Ensure that all available fleet is on the road and declared to enable the Planning Team to plan the resource. Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training and personal development plans. Communicate with 3rd Party hauliers in regard to control of all reported defects on drop trailers left for preloading.
\n What you'll need to succeed
\n Previous experience within a transport, logistics, or distribution environment. Knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements. Understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and tachograph legislation. Strong organisational and planning skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport management systems. Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. International CPC qualification or working towards CPC. Experience supervising drivers or transport teams. Knowledge of fleet management and vehicle maintenance processes. Experience within a fast-paced distribution or logistics operation.
