I'm recruiting on behalf of a key public sector client for an experienced Senior Software Developer (AG7) to join their Information Systems Office. This is an exciting role where you'll lead on the design, development and delivery of business-critical software solutions that directly support organisational operations.
Salary: £36,122 + £7,542 salary supplement
Location: Belfast
Contract Type: Temporary up to 12 months
Working Environment: Agile, Microsoft-focused, collaborative, supportive
Team: Parliamentary Services - IS Office
The Role
As Senior Software Developer, you'll take ownership of developing modern, secure and reliable software solutions using Microsoft technologies and Azure cloud services. You'll work closely with users across the organisation, mentor junior developers, and ensure delivery of high-quality code following best practice. You'll have end-to-end understanding of system design and play a key part in shaping future digital services.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading analysis and development of user stories within Agile processes
- Working with users to translate requirements into clear technical specifications
- Contributing to system and integration design
- Designing secure solutions with embedded controls
- Developing using ASP.NET Core MVC, C#.NET, Entity Framework Core, Azure Functions and SQL Server
- Supporting legacy systems (VB.NET, WebForms, WinForms) where needed
- Providing technical support for bespoke, business-critical applications
- Mentoring and line-managing junior development staff
- Developing cloud-based solutions across Azure, Office 365, SharePoint Online and Teams
- Contributing to IT policy, strategy and security standards
Essential Criteria
You must meet one of the qualification routes and have the required experience in all three technical areas.
Route 1 - Degree Pathway
- a) Bachelor's degree (or higher) in: Computing, Computer Science, Software Engineering OR another discipline relevant to Information Systems / IT AND
- b) Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in each of the three areas below.
Route 2 - HND/Foundation Degree Pathway
- a) HND or Foundation Degree in Computing or a relevant IS/IT discipline AND
- b) Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in each of the three areas below.
(i) Application Development Experience must include:
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 or later
- C#.NET and ASP.NET MVC architecture
- Entity Framework
- Azure Functions
- Team Foundation Server or similar
(ii) Azure DevOps or similar
(iii) Database Design Experience must include:
- Logical & physical data modelling
- SQL Server 2012 or later
- Use of Structured Query Language (SQL)
Qualification Note
Qualifications must have at least 50% computing content. Candidates must list modules and clearly demonstrate this.
