Hays are partnering with a well-established and highly respected organisation operating across the UK and Ireland to recruit a Payments Analyst on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

Your new role
Reporting to the Payments Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient processing of supplier and contractor payments while maintaining strong financial controls and high levels of accuracy.
Key responsibilities will include
- Processing high-volume supplier and contractor payments, including multi-currency transactions.
- Managing payment runs and ensuring invoices are paid within agreed credit terms.
- Reconciling supplier accounts and creditor statements.
- Preparing and distributing remittance advices.
- Processing BACS and cheque payments and posting transactions to the purchase ledger.
- Updating bank records, cashbooks and financial ledgers.
- Investigating and resolving supplier queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaising with internal departments to ensure accurate financial records and smooth payment processes.
- Setting up and verifying new supplier accounts in line with internal controls and procedures.
- Supporting the wider finance function with general administrative tasks when required.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you will have
- Previous experience processing payment runs within a finance or accounts payable environment.
- Strong understanding of purchase ledger processes and supplier payments.
- Experience reconciling supplier accounts and resolving payment-related queries.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work confidently with spreadsheets. Knowledge of functions such as VLOOKUP would be advantageous.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
