Hays Technology is partnering with a leading financial services organisation seeking an excellent Data Analyst to join a growing Markets Non-Financial Risk team within a leading global financial services organisation. You will lead the data-related elements of projects focused on building and enhancing market abuse surveillance and other regulatory controls. This is a fast-paced delivery environment where you will work alongside experienced financial markets professionals and technology partners to develop industry-leading control solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesThe role will be part of the projects team, and you will be responsible for: Gather and define data requirements across multiple risk and control projects. Identify the required datasets and write SQL queries to extract and analyse relevant information. Document datasets, filters, methodologies and the rationale behind data decisions. Act as the subject-matter expert for data consumed by transaction monitoring controls. Investigate data-related issues, assess their impact and determine the underlying root cause. Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to communicate findings and recommend improvements. 4+ years relevant experience working as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst. ~ Strong, demonstrable SQL experience is essential. ~ Experience gathering data requirements and working with large or complex datasets. ~ Knowledge of financial instruments, particularly bonds and derivatives, would be highly advantageous. ~ Previous experience in financial services, risk, controls, surveillance or transaction monitoring would be beneficial. ~ The ability to understand the wider commercial and regulatory picture while maintaining close attention to detail. ~ A bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent professional experience. This role will require you to be in the Belfast office 3 days per week. Only candidates with the ability to attend the office will be considered.
