About the Role

As an

S/4HANA Senior Functional Consultant - Tax , you will play a key role in delivering a global SAP S/4HANA transformation programme for a leading pharmaceutical organisation.

This role will be responsible for supporting the design, governance, and deployment of global tax processes and SAP S/4HANA Tax solutions across a complex international landscape.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, SAP specialists, architecture teams, data teams, and external delivery partners to develop and maintain a fit-to-standard global template aligned with SAP best practices.

The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in indirect tax processes, SAP Document & Reporting Compliance (DRC), tax engines, and global S/4HANA implementations, with the ability to operate effectively across multiple business functions and geographies.

Our client, a global leader within the pharmaceutical industry, is looking to strengthen its SAP transformation team with an experienced S/4HANA Tax Consultant.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a large-scale global programme focused on standardising business processes and delivering a modern SAP S/4HANA landscape across multiple regions.

Experience and Skills Required

Essential

  • Strong understanding of indirect tax processes and tax touchpoints across end-to-end supply chains.
  • Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA Tax solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP Document & Reporting Compliance (DRC).
  • Experience working with EDICOM and digital tax compliance regulations including e-invoicing and e-reporting.
  • Strong understanding of VAT, GST, import/export, free trade zones, and global tax requirements.
  • Experience supporting complex global S/4HANA transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of SAP tax-related master data and data migration requirements.
  • Experience working with integrations between SAP and external tax engines.
  • Proven experience delivering fit-to-standard SAP solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing RAID logs, risks, dependencies, and governance activities.

Desirable

  • SAP S/4HANA Tax Certification.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical or highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of SAP Global Trade Services (GTS).
  • Experience working with global deployment programmes.
  • Exposure to hybrid delivery teams across multiple geographies.
  • Experience supporting deployment, cutover, and hypercare activities.

Responsibilities

  • SAP Tax Solution Design
  • Support the development of the global SAP S/4HANA Tax solution.
  • Ensure alignment with SAP best practices and fit-to-standard principles.
  • Work closely with business process owners to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions.
  • Support solution governance and design authority activities.
  • Global Programme Delivery
  • Contribute to the delivery of a global S/4HANA transformation programme.
  • Collaborate across architecture, integration, data, testing, and deployment teams.
  • Support programme governance activities including RAID management and reporting.
  • Ensure alignment between project deliverables and strategic IT objectives.
  • Data, Integration & Compliance
  • Support the design and migration of tax-related data objects.
  • Work with integration teams to ensure successful connectivity across SAP and third-party applications.
  • Ensure compliance with global tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Testing & Deployment
  • Support solution testing activities including SIT and UAT.
  • Assist deployment teams throughout localisation, cutover, and go-live activities.
  • Provide support during hypercare and post-implementation phases.
  • Ensure solutions are documented, validated, and delivered in accordance with programme standards.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Engage with business, technology, architecture, and delivery teams.
  • Work closely with external implementation partners and SAP specialists.
  • Present solution recommendations and progress updates to key stakeholders and governance forums.
