Hays are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Electrician to support a critical environment in central Oxford. This role offers a long-term contract and the opportunity to work within a high-priority technical site.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering reactive and planned maintenance across a busy, business-critical facility, ensuring power systems, UPS equipment and essential services remain fully operational. The role requires strong technical capability and confidence working within a data centre or other critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to breakdown maintenance requests within set SLA timeframes
- Carry out repairs to modular UPS systems
- Diagnose power quality issues, including harmonic distortion, using power analysers
- Apply risk-focused maintenance practices across critical plant and systems
- Provide emergency response, standby and call-out support
- Escalate urgent issues to the Technical Services Manager
- Keep all critical engineering maintenance documentation updated
- Advise Facilities Management on any required environmental or system changes
- Undertake site surveys and produce Works Requests
- Support interruptions, outages and emergency situations as required
- Work additional hours when necessary to support operational demand
What You'll Need
- Experience in critical environments such as data centres, computer rooms or trading floors
- Strong technical awareness of power systems, UPS/CPS, distribution and cooling
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and power-related faults
- Flexibility to work beyond contractual hours
