Your new company is a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across Northern Ireland. Due to continued growth and the award of long-term utility works, this company is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their operational team on a major sewer upgrade programme in County Down. This is an excellent opportunity as Site Manager to take a leading role on a 2-year programme of works delivering essential wastewater infrastructure improvements. The project will involve a combination of sewer rehabilitation, new sewer installation, associated civils works, and upgrades to existing assets within the local network. With a strong pipeline of future projects secured, the position of Site Manager offers long-term stability and career progression within a growing organisation.
Your new role involves the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. You will also be involved in other local projects in the area as they land. Working closely with the Contracts Manager and wider project team, you will coordinate multiple gangs of direct labour and subcontractors across live construction sites, ensuring programmes are achieved, and client expectations are exceeded. You will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including health and safety compliance, quality assurance, resource allocation, and progress reporting.
Key responsibilities will include:- Managing daily site activities across sewer upgrade and civil engineering works
- Supervising direct labour and subcontractors to ensure productivity and programme targets are achieved
- Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Conducting site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Coordinating plant, labour, materials and subcontractor activities
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, stakeholders and the senior management team
- Monitoring project progress and reporting on programme performance
- Maintaining accurate site records and supporting commercial and operational reporting requirements
What you'll need to succeed: You will be an experienced Site Manager with a proven track record of successfully delivering civil engineering, utilities, water or infrastructure projects. Previous experience working on sewer, wastewater, water treatment, pipeline or similar heavy civils projects would be highly advantageous, although candidates from broader civil engineering backgrounds will also be considered.
To be successful, you should possess:
- Previous experience in a Site Manager or Senior Site Supervisor position
- Strong background in civil engineering, utilities, water or infrastructure projects
- Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors on live construction sites
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and site management procedures
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification
- CSCS card and relevant site management qualifications
- First Aid qualification (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
