Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, to recruit a Project Development Officer (Capital) on a temporary contract basis for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of further extension.

Your new role

Reporting to the Capital Works Manager, you will oversee the delivery of assigned Capital and Minor Works projects on time and within budget. This will include:

  • Developing action plans including costs and clear work programmes for a wide range of capital projects.
  • Ensuring that contractors, consultants and wider stakeholders involved in contracts co-operate effectively.
  • Efficiently and effectively managing capital works projects expenditure in line with the Council's tendering process.
  • Assisting with drawing up specifications, obtaining competitive tenders and evaluating proposals to ensure both value for money and quality are achieved.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you should possess the following:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a building related subject, and membership of a recognised professional body relevant to the post.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in managing capital projects from design to client handover, including:
    • Successful delivery of commercial / public capital and minor works projects;
    • Successful management of budgets;
    • Experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders.

If you do not possess a degree or equivalent qualification in a building related subject, you should possess 5 years' experience as outlined above and membership of a recognised professional body relevant to the post.
