Your New Role Our client is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Automation & Robotics Engineer to join their senior operational team. This is a high-impact, permanent role and you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company-wide automation strategy. Working cross-functionally with production, engineering and senior leadership, you will identify automation opportunities across the facility, develop detailed implementation plans and lead the deployment of collaborative robots and other automated systems within the manufacturing processes. What You'll Need To Succeed In order to be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications: Essential Degree or HND/HNC in Automation Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline; or significant equivalent experience * Proven hands-on experience in industrial automation or robotics engineering within a manufacturing environment * Demonstrable experience programming and deploying collaborative robots (cobots) - e.g. Farino, Universal Robots (URScript/Polyscope), FANUC, KUKA, ABB, or similar * Strong understanding of PLC programming and industrial control systems * Solid knowledge of machine safety standards and CE/UKCA marking requirements. Experience conducting risk assessments and developing safe systems of work for automated machinery * Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent for basic mechanical/layout design * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret production data and translate into engineering solutions * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences * Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Desirable Familiarity with composite materials processing, CNC operations, or bonding and foaming processes * Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, MES/SCADA systems, and IoT integration * Lean Six Sigma qualification (Green Belt or above) * Project management qualification (Prince2, APM, or equivalent) * Experience working with vision systems, conveyors, or automated dispensing equipment * Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) or digital twin simulation tools.
