Your New Company is a well-established SME business that has delivered holistic design solutions across a range of project types within building services. They are a business of 50+ engineers with a great track record of delivery over a good number of years. Sustainability is now at the core of their projects, and they are looking to keep growing their expertise in the market. They have ambitious growth plans and are looking to expand their presence in the London market. They are ideally looking for someone very people-centric to promote performance and really focus on developing a team and culture in that office.

Your New Role: As an Associate Director, you will be responsible for developing and managing the London office. You will need to grow the reputation in London and develop the team promoting the highest quality delivery and customer service. You will also make decisions to grow this delivery capability in London by hiring a team underneath you and helping influence the overall direction of the company going forwards. The role will include a clear line into a full Directorship within 1-2 years, as long as both parties are happy. This step up will include equity into the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the operational team and ensuring the successful delivery of major projects with the help of pooled company resources.
  • Securing new business and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Preparing fee proposals, bids, and fee calculations.
  • Reporting on business projections, pipeline, and profitability of individual projects.
  • Ensuring technically sound and commercially viable engineering solutions.
  • Representing the company at corporate events and functions.
  • Driving business growth in line with company targets and reinforcing the company’s reputation within the industry.

What You’ll Need to Succeed: To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in an Engineering Discipline and Chartered Engineer status from an industry-recognized body (or equivalent relevant skills, experience, and qualifications).
  • Strong technical skills with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
  • Proven experience in the construction industry with a track record of career progression and project success.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and operating within an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, low carbon design, and relevant British Standards.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, marketing, and business development skills.
  • Strong financial management skills and an appreciation of planning legislative requirements.
