Exciting role for a progressive and ambitious finance professional. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified or finalist ACCA/CIMA student (or a newly qualified accountant) to join a small finance team that punches above its weight!
To be successful in this role, you will need a proven track record of performing as a powerful supporting member of a finance team but also have some experience of stepping up and deputising; the next 5 years will see you taking more responsibility within the department and should see you realising your ambition of becoming their next Financial Controller!
For now, you will be supporting the organisation's transactional finance team members, ensuring precision in financial reporting and adherence to accounting standards, providing succinct and commercial analysis and commentary to support the businesses' performance, as well as supporting the Payroll function.
This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and advancement. Your responsibilities in this role will include the following:
- Prepare financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Oversee and support the payables and receivables process.
- Maintain accurate financial records using Sage accounting software.
- Providing expertise at month and year-end closing.
- Supporting in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders and external entities to deliver key information within agreed timescales.
- Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll processes using Sage Payroll.
In order to be selected for interview, you must have significant experience in financial and management accounting in a commercial industry environment. Experience with Sage (and ideally experience with SAGE Payroll) will be highly beneficial. You will need some experience of running payrolls and I suspect that, additionally, you will need at least 2 years' experience in an assistant accountant role.
The undertaking of a recognised professional qualification (either ACCA or CIMA) and a robust understanding of the principles of transactional and management accounting as well as the payroll process are key to success in your application for this role.
