Overview

In this role you will lead both manufacturing and field service operations to drive performance and customer satisfaction. You will work with the MD and leadership team to grow the business while maintaining high standards across manufacturing, service and compliance. You will champion continuous improvement, robust processes, and KPI‑driven performance in a hands‑on, influential capacity. This is a senior, growth‑oriented position within an established engineering company that serves UK and overseas customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Production and Service departments to meet targets
  • Support and manage departmental managers to boost accountability and performance
  • Oversee manufacturing operations, resource planning and workflow
  • Lead field service to ensure high customer satisfaction and delivery quality
  • Drive continuous improvement across production and service
  • Develop and implement operational processes and procedures
  • Manage budgets and allocate resources
  • Oversee Health & Safety, Fire Safety and compliance
  • Maintain ISO accreditation and audit processes
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships as senior contact
  • Collaborate with MD and leadership to support growth and strategy
  • Support recruitment, retention and development of operational teams
  • Monitor KPIs, customer satisfaction, and service performance metrics

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in Operations Manager, General Manager, Production Manager or Service Manager roles
  • Background in manufacturing, engineering, capital equipment or technical service environments
  • Experience leading both operational and customer‑facing teams
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem‑solving skills
  • Proven ability to improve processes, drive efficiencies and implement change
  • Experience managing budgets, resources and performance
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Hands‑on approach with ability to influence and engage teams at all levels
