We are working with a local council on a temporary to permanent opportunity for a strong Administrator to start asap.

The role is full time Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm and paying £14.63 per hour equal to £28,163 PA.

Your new role

  1. To support the Office Manager / Assistant to the Clerk in ensuring best practice is always maintained including review of policies, procedures, Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and the business plan.
  2. To participate in the maintaining of all records and documents relating to the Council assisting in ensuring policies and processes are adhered to, organised and up to date.
  3. To assist the Officer Manager / Assistant to the Clerk with various Council duties and responsibilities on a day-to-day basis.
  4. To support the Office Manager / Assistant to the Clerk in preparation and distribution of all agendas for the Council and all Council Committees, liaising with different departments to ensure correct reports are uploaded.
  5. To attend Committee, Sub Committee, Council evening meetings and any other Council meetings to take and produce the minutes or notes, as required.
  6. To be responsible for the setup of the room for Council and Council Committees liaising with the Office Manager / Assistant to the Clerk.
  7. To support the Office Manager / Assistant to the Clerk for reviewing all IT equipment and software.
  8. To provide a full burial administration service jointly with the Administration Department.
  9. To assist in maintaining and updating the Council website.
  10. To be an advocate for the Town Council business plan as part of the team in assisting the Town Council to meet the objectives and deliverables.
  11. To assist in obtaining quotes for items and contracts relating to the administration department to form part of the annual budget review / precept setting.
  12. Be proactive in identifying opportunities for learning and professional development to ensure continuous improvement.
  13. To be responsible and support the Office Manager / Assistant to the Clerk with the recruitment for the Council.
  14. To work in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations and Council’s policies and procedures.

What you\’ll need to succeed

  1. Educated to 4 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent, including English and Maths, or possesses relevant vocational/professional qualification or demonstrates relevant experience
  2. Relevant administration, business and IT qualifications
  3. Experience of taking professional notes or formal minutes
  4. Experience of working in a busy office environment
  5. Ability to maintain attention to detail, good analytical skills and the ability to interpret information
  6. Ability to work to strict deadlines
  7. Professional knowledge of Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Social Media, database and creative software packages
  8. Ability to problem solve
