What makes a successful Assistant Manager?

  • You’ve got a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Travel Consultant with a proven sales record
  • You’re a problem-solving leader with the ability and experience to coach, develop and motivate a team to maximise job satisfaction and performance.

  • Assistant Managers are integral to theeffective day-to-day running of our branches. You will assist the branch manager in maximising sales and ensuring the profitability of the branch.
  • Career development is key – you will assist in supervising and coachingyour team.
  • You will represent the branch in promotional events to increase the exposure; and use social media to promote offers, generate customer engagement and sales leads.
  • You will lead your team by example and set standards by achieving your own sales targets and learning & development objectives.

Hays Travel is the UK’s largest independent travel agent, known for offering quality holidays and exceptional customer service. Founded in 1980 by John Hays in Seaham, Co Durham, the company initially operated from the back of his mother’s children’s wear shop. Over the years, Hays Travel grew rapidly, expanding across the Northeast and eventually nationwide.

Our Story

Hays Travel, founded by John Hays in 1980 in Seaham, Co Durham, where he started selling holidays from the back of his mother’s children\’s wear shop. By 1982, we opened the second shop in Sunderland, where the Hays Travel headquarters remain today. The company expanded to seven shops in the Northeast by 1987 and opened its first call centre in 1990. In 1995, we established the Hays Travel Independence Group, and by 1997, diversified into homeworking.

In 2013, Hays Travel acquired Bath Travel, the largest independent travel agency in the South of England, followed by the Thomas Cook retail estate in 2019, providing re-employment for 2,500 former staff.

In 2021, we introduced the Hays Travel Academy Now know as New to travel and the Hays Travel Money Card.

Hays Travel expanded further in 2023, acquiring 45 Just Go branches in the Northwest and 16 Travel House shops in South Wales.

In 2024 Hays Travel acquired three Holiday with Us branches and 19 Miles Morgan Travel locations.

Hays Travel have won multiple gold awards at the British Travel Awards.
