The Opportunity
Our client, a global insurance organisation operating within a highly regulated environment, is looking for an experienced Technical Architect with strong AS/400 (IBM iSeries) expertise to join their Application Solutions team. This role will play a key part in several high-profile migration and transformation programmes, helping to modernise critical applications while ensuring stability across existing platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver technical architecture for IBM iSeries / AS/400 applications.
- Lead migration and modernisation projects involving legacy systems.
- Collaborate with business, technical, and third-party teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Produce architecture roadmaps, solution designs, and technical documentation.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security requirements, and business objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout project delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Architect, Solution Architect, or Senior Technical Lead.
- Strong expertise in AS/400 / IBM iSeries environments.
- Strong experience within the insurance sector.
- Experience delivering application migration, transformation, or modernisation programmes.
- Knowledge of IBM i technologies, including RPG, CL, COBOL, or DB2 for i (desirable).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
