We're working with a large, technology-driven organisation undergoing a significant data transformation programme and seeking an experienced Data Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping its enterprise data landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to help unlock the value of a complex and diverse data estate, enabling the creation of unified customer and property data views, supporting system integrations and migrations, and establishing best-in-class data architecture and governance practices.

The Role

As a Data Architect, you will define, evolve, and communicate enterprise-wide data architecture, ensuring data is accessible, trusted, and aligned to business objectives. A key initial focus will be mapping existing CRM data structures, developing Common Data Models (CDMs) within a Microsoft Fabric Medallion Architecture, and establishing scalable data integration patterns. Working closely with data engineering, BI, and business teams, you will help drive strategic data initiatives across both cloud and on-premise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain enterprise Common Data Model (CDM) architecture across cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Design and implement hybrid data solutions integrating Azure services, SQL Server environments, third-party APIs, and external data feeds.
  • Develop and govern conceptual, logical, and physical data models, ensuring consistency and quality across platforms.
  • Support the creation of unified customer and business data views through robust data architecture.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, and Analytics teams to ensure efficient ingestion, transformation, and reporting solutions.
  • Architect secure and scalable third-party data integrations.
  • Drive data governance, metadata management, and regulatory compliance initiatives, including GDPR requirements.
  • Support data platform governance and data cataloguing capabilities.
  • Optimise data architecture for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain architecture documentation and communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in a Data Architect or Enterprise Data Architecture role.
  • Strong background in data governance, data management, and enterprise data modelling.
  • Experience designing solutions across public cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong SQL Server expertise and experience working within hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
  • Experience developing Common Data Models (CDMs) for core business domains.
  • Strong understanding of metadata management and data architecture frameworks.
  • Experience integrating third-party systems, APIs, and data sources.
  • Knowledge of data migration and modernisation strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Microsoft Fabric experience, including Medallion Architecture.
  • CRM migration, implementation, or integration experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview and enterprise data governance tooling.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD approaches for data pipelines.
  • Cloud Architecture and Data Management certifications.
  • Experience working within data-driven operating models and OKR frameworks.

What's on Offer?

  • Initial 6-month contract with potential for extension.
  • Opportunity to work on a large-scale enterprise data transformation programme.
  • Exposure to modern cloud data technologies, governance frameworks, and architecture initiatives.
  • Collaborative environment with significant strategic impact across the organisation.
