We're supporting a major UK financial services organisation that is investing heavily in AI, automation and next-generation digital capabilities. They are looking for an experienced AI Platform Engineer to help accelerate the adoption of enterprise AI solutions, build reusable capabilities, and deliver production-ready AI and automation services across the business. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work closely with business stakeholders, architects, security teams and technology partners to transform AI opportunities into scalable solutions while maintaining strong governance and operational standards.

The Role

  • Build and enhance AI-powered applications and automation solutions.
  • Integrate and operationalise Large Language Models including GPT, Claude and Gemini.
  • Develop AI agents, workflow automation and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
  • Design and develop integrations using REST APIs, GraphQL, OAuth 2.0 and JWT authentication.
  • Build and support Azure-hosted workloads and Kubernetes-based services.
  • Develop Python services and integrations.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions workflows.
  • Embed security controls and governance into the development lifecycle.
  • Help define engineering standards, reusable patterns and best practices.
  • Coach internal teams and contribute to the organisation's growing AI capability.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in Cloud & Platform: Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions.
  • Development: Python, API Development, REST APIs, GraphQL.
  • AI & Automation: Large Language Models (LLMs), GPT, Claude and/or Gemini, AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Databases, LLM orchestration frameworks.
  • Data: Databricks, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
  • DevSecOps: CI/CD pipelines, Secure coding practices, Security scanning and dependency management tools.

Desirable Experience

  • Financial Services experience.
  • Experience within regulated environments, FCA awareness, Consumer Duty knowledge, Operational Resilience understanding, GDPR and data privacy experience.
  • Delivering AI solutions into production environments.
  • Working with global engineering teams.
