Hays are now looking for a SQL Developer for one of our local clients: £430 p/d Inside IR35 2 days a week onsite, the rest is WFH. Location is Cheshire. 12 Month Contract.

Overview

We are seeking a SQL Server Developer/Engineer to support SQL Engineering initiatives, delivering high-quality, scalable solutions aligned to cyber and infrastructure programmes. This role focuses on enhancing design, development, and integration across enterprise services.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and engineering SQL-based solutions to support key technology initiatives
  • Enhancing solution design and delivery, ensuring seamless integration with internal platforms
  • Adhering to best practices for change control, database security, and governance
  • Producing and maintaining clear documentation across all solution components
  • Collaborating proactively across infrastructure teams and promoting best practices
  • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to a wide range of stakeholders

What we're looking for

  • Strong expertise in C#, PowerShell scripting, WebAPI, and JSON/API integration
  • Solid experience in backend development with MSSQL (MongoDB desirable)
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka, Ansible (AAP 2.4/2.5), and DevOps tooling (Git, Jenkins, Confluence)
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development (e.g. GitLab Duo, Claude)
  • Good understanding of SDLC, DevOps practices, and Agile methodologies
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, coding best practices, and automation
