Your new role
You will join a high-performing team as a SQL Database Administrator, acting as a subject-matter expert across both Azure and on-premise Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environments. This role will see you supporting enterprise-scale database platforms across production, UAT and development environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability and security. Due to the nature of the environment, this position is based full-time on-site within a secure facility in Manchester.
What you'll be doing
- Administering and maintaining MS SQL Server and MySQL databases
- Managing clustering, replication, backups and performance tuning
- Providing 3rd line support and resolving incidents via call management systems
- Delivering planned releases, patches and upgrades across environments
- Monitoring and optimising database performance, including storage and alerting
- Supporting space management and proactive system health checks
- Mentoring junior DBAs and contributing to wider team knowledge sharing
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 onwards)
- Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures and triggers
- Experience working with Azure VMs, Windows Server and Azure DevOps
- Hands-on experience with SSIS (package development, deployment and maintenance)
- Working knowledge of Power BI, including troubleshooting performance and access issues
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SCOM and/or Azure Monitor
- Experience using ServiceNow or similar ITIL-based ticketing systems
Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (or equivalent) - desirable
- ITIL Foundation - desirable
