A leading financial services organisation is hiring an experienced Data Governance Lead to support a critical, engineering-led initiative. This role will focus on designing and delivering a risk-based data prioritisation methodology for engineering data and records, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and business priorities. Working across engineering, data, and risk teams, you will play a key role in defining how critical data is identified, prioritised, and governed, and in developing a clear roadmap to achieve compliance and improve data governance maturity. This is a hands-on delivery role, requiring someone who has successfully implemented similar frameworks in complex, regulated environments.

- Rate - £750 - £900 / day Inside IR35 via Umbrella
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a risk-based data prioritisation methodology, including scoring criteria aligned to business value, risk, and regulatory exposure.
- Adapt existing enterprise data governance policies to the engineering environment.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across engineering, data, and risk to drive alignment and secure buy-in.
- Apply the methodology to identify and prioritise critical engineering datasets and records.
- Develop a pragmatic roadmap and implementation plan to achieve data conformance.
- Support identification of data and record ownership where required.
- Ensure outputs are practical, scalable, and embedded into engineering workflows.
Experience Required
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or data strategy delivery roles.
- Demonstrable experience building and applying data prioritisation frameworks, methodologies, or operating models.
- Experience working closely with engineering or technology teams.
- Strong understanding of risk, regulatory, and compliance-driven data environments.
- Background in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Track record of delivering practical, implementable outcomes, not just high-level strategy.
