We are seeking an experienced Lab Infrastructure Engineer to join a business-critical lab operations team supporting a large-scale broadband testing environment. This role is focused on maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that underpins broadband device testing, development, and validation activities. Supporting approximately 80 users and over 300 applications, you will play a key role in ensuring the lab environment remains reliable, scalable, and fully operational for engineering and testing teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with experience in telecoms testing labs, CPE environments, and network infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support broadband device testing environments.
  • Configure, onboard, and manage new devices within the lab infrastructure.
  • Support the environments used by test, development, and engineering teams.
  • Manage networking, IP connectivity, and infrastructure requirements across the lab estate.
  • Support broadband and WiFi testing activities.
  • Assist in maintaining continuous integration and automated testing environments.
  • Monitor, track, and manage issues and activities through Jira.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure lab services meet operational and testing requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working within a CPE testing environment (mandatory).
  • Strong Python scripting and development skills.
  • Good understanding of broadband technologies and services.
  • Knowledge of DOCSIS environments.
  • Strong networking and IP infrastructure experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining test laboratory environments.
  • Experience using Jira for issue and activity tracking.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Telecoms or broadband lab infrastructure support experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale testing environments.
  • Knowledge of WiFi testing, validation, and device certification activities.
  • Experience working within highly technical engineering or product development environments.

You’ll be a proactive engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced technical environment, supporting critical testing infrastructure and enabling engineering teams to deliver high-quality broadband products and services.

Previous experience within a telecoms testing lab environment is mandatory. No flexibility on rate. Fully onsite role based in Ipswich. Initial 6-month contract with strong extension potential.
