Your new role
We are looking for a technical and hands-on Infrastructure Technician to support our network and server infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation across the business. This role is ideal for someone with solid IT experience, looking to gain deeper exposure to networking, security, and infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Support & Troubleshooting - Provide 1st and 2nd line support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Network Administration - Assist with maintaining Cisco networking equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Switch Patching & Configuration - Support 3rd parties with patching and updates on network switches, ensuring correct VLAN assignments and connectivity.
- Wireless & LAN Management - Support Wi-Fi networks, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimise performance across multiple sites.
- System Administration - Assist with managing Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, Intune, SharePoint and basic server tasks.
- Monitoring & Security - Help monitor network traffic, identify potential security threats, and escalate critical issues as needed.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery - Support and monitor 3rd party backup solutions, support disaster recovery planning, and ensure business continuity.
- Documentation & Process Improvement - Document network configurations, IT procedures, and troubleshoot processes for future reference.
- IT Projects & Upgrades - Support infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, system migrations, and process automation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with networking, including Cisco switches and routers.
- Basic knowledge of switch patching, VLAN configuration, and access control lists (ACLs).
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and Windows environments.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Familiarity with firewall and security principles (desirable but not essential).
- Exposure to Cisco Meraki or similar cloud-managed network solutions.
- Knowledge of ITIL or other service management frameworks.
- Understanding of basic server administration and virtualisation technologies.
Desirable Skills
- Windows Server 2008R2-2019 Operating Systems and Hybrid Active Directory, GPO management, Hybrid Exchange, Hyper-V management.
- An understanding of Azure cloud technologies.
