Your new role

We are seeking a highly capable Data Lead with a strong technical mindset and exceptional data ownership skills to drive the business-side data strategy for a major SAP to Aderant migration within a global legal firm. This role is responsible for ensuring all client/matter, timekeeper, financial, and P2P/R2R datasets are correctly defined, comprehensively mapped, thoroughly cleansed, and fully approved across each migration cycle. As the authoritative voice on data meaning, lineage, and acceptance, you will act as the central link between Finance, Legal Operations, and IT-setting standards, identifying golden sources, and ensuring consistent governance and quality across the programme.

You will lead requirements gathering, run design workshops, and guide business reviews to translate complex operational needs into clear, actionable specifications and documentation. The role owns the entire SAP β†’ Aderant conversion mapping, shapes global and regional taxonomy decisions, drives data cleansing and reconciliation controls, and oversees validation, UAT, and business sign-off for each test and production wave. As the single accountable business decision-maker for data, you will ensure issues are resolved quickly, decisions are clearly documented, and strong governance frameworks are embedded to create a stable, trusted, long-term data landscape.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Significant experience as a Data Lead or similar role, demonstrating a strong sense of data ownership.
  • Expert-level SAP knowledge with proven data/product ownership across large-scale SAP migration programmes.
  • Hands-on experience in data mapping and migration, including complex transformation and validation work.
  • Experience working with ERP/PMS systems within legal or professional services environments (Aderant working knowledge = desirable).
  • Strong understanding of SAP core data, end-to-end SAP migrations, and how SAP data flows through business processes.
  • Proven track record in mapping SAP datasets into new ERP/PMS platforms.
  • Extensive SAP migration experience is essential.
  • Deep understanding of how SAP data is used operationally within the business.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to collaborate effectively with business teams, programme leadership, finance, technical teams, senior legal stakeholders, and external vendors.
