Your new company Hays are partnering with a well-established and highly reputable retail organisation, to recruit a Trading Manager to join their commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving category performance and delivering commercial growth within a fast-paced environment.

Your new role

  • Managing product categories to maximise sales, profitability and market share.
  • Developing and implementing trading strategies, analysing performance data and customer trends.
  • Working closely with suppliers to negotiate competitive terms and promotional plans.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain and store operations teams to ensure effective product availability and execution.
  • Monitoring market activity, identifying growth opportunities, and continuously optimising ranges and pricing strategies to meet customer demand.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Recent experience in a trading, buying or category management role.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to drive sales and margin growth.
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiation and relationship management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience using commercial or ERP systems.
  • Third-level qualification in business, supply chain or a related discipline.
