Your new company: Due to continuous and ongoing works for a high-profile client, one of Northern Ireland's leading construction contractors is now seeking an immediate Health & Safety Officer to join the team on a long-term programme of works based at a major manufacturing facility in Derry/Londonderry. With decades of experience delivering award-winning projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial and fit-out sectors, the contractor has established a strong reputation for quality, safety and successful project delivery throughout the UK and Ireland.
Your new role: As Health & Safety Officer, you will be site-based and work closely with the Project Management and Construction teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and compliance are maintained across a range of ongoing construction and refurbishment works within a live manufacturing environment. Your duties will include:
- Carrying out regular site inspections and audits
- Reviewing and monitoring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Delivering site inductions and toolbox talks
- Investigating incidents and near misses
- Maintaining health & safety records and documentation
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, company procedures and client requirements
- Working alongside subcontractors and site personnel to promote a positive safety culture
- Providing practical advice and support on safe systems of work across all site activities
What you'll need to succeed: As a successful Health & Safety Officer, you will have a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and a genuine interest in construction health & safety. Previous site-based experience within construction would be advantageous, although applications are also encouraged from junior candidates looking to establish a long-term career within the sector. You will ideally possess:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Previous exposure to construction or civil engineering environments
- Knowledge of site inspections, audits, RAMS and health & safety documentation
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive approach to promoting safe working practices
- CSR Card or equivalent site safety accreditation
