Your new company is a growing and highly respected MGA operating in the UK commercial market, seeking a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter to join their London-based Property team. Your new role involves underwriting complex new business and renewal risks across commercial combined, property, and casualty lines. Operating with a high level of delegated authority, you will focus on profitable growth while establishing yourself as a trusted trading partner to a panel of brokers. You will manage and develop broker relationships through regular trading activity and face-to-face engagement, actively driving new business opportunities. Additionally, you will take ownership of portfolio performance, analysing trends, monitoring loss ratios, and taking corrective action where required to maintain underwriting discipline. You will also act as a referral point for junior underwriters, providing technical guidance and mentoring to support their development. Furthermore, you will contribute to underwriting strategy, product development, and the continuous improvement of underwriting processes, with the opportunity to progress into a leadership role as the business grows.
What you'll need to succeed: You will be an experienced commercial P&C underwriter with a strong trading mentality and a desire for autonomy. You will typically have significant experience underwriting commercial Property and Casualty risks, gained within an MGA or composite insurer environment. The ideal candidate will be looking to make that step into a Team Leading position. You will hold a minimum of Cert CII qualification and be willing to continue studying.
