The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Assignment Type: Temporary, ongoing basis where you will be engaged via Hays.

Location: Chichester

Working Environment: office based on site - hybrid.

Pay type: Competitive hourly pay rate.

Our client is the World’s pre-eminent super-luxury automotive brand based in Goodwood, near Chichester, West Sussex, which comprises its global headquarters and Global Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence.

Role Overview / Day in the Life

Position: Quality Planner (Project Quality Engineer)

Focus: Works on long-term projects (4-5 years before production)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams (engineering, suppliers, internal stakeholders);
  • Lead advanced quality planning activities: Proficient in FMEA, Control Plans, SPC;
  • Create inspection instructions;
  • Design and check fixtures; collaborate with toolmakers;
  • Oversee quality team; Quality Planners (each supported by a Quality Specialist); Quality Technicians (hands-on roles);
  • Support safety testing (e.g., TRW Autoliv).

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively in meetings;
  • Confident in escalating issues and driving decisions;
  • Automotive experience preferred (not essential);
  • Proven engineering background with New Product Introduction (NPI) experience;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience and an engineering degree;
  • Familiarity with IQ, FMEA, Control plans (currently Excel-based) - Moving away from Excel-based processes.

The Quality Planner defines specifications - requires strong technical understanding.
