Our client is the World’s pre-eminent super-luxury automotive brand based in Goodwood, near Chichester, West Sussex, which comprises its global headquarters and Global Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence.
Role Overview / Day in the Life
Position: Quality Planner (Project Quality Engineer)
Focus: Works on long-term projects (4-5 years before production)
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams (engineering, suppliers, internal stakeholders);
- Lead advanced quality planning activities: Proficient in FMEA, Control Plans, SPC;
- Create inspection instructions;
- Design and check fixtures; collaborate with toolmakers;
- Oversee quality team; Quality Planners (each supported by a Quality Specialist); Quality Technicians (hands-on roles);
- Support safety testing (e.g., TRW Autoliv).
Skills & Experience:
- Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively in meetings;
- Confident in escalating issues and driving decisions;
- Automotive experience preferred (not essential);
- Proven engineering background with New Product Introduction (NPI) experience;
- Minimum 5 years' experience and an engineering degree;
- Familiarity with IQ, FMEA, Control plans (currently Excel-based) - Moving away from Excel-based processes.
The Quality Planner defines specifications - requires strong technical understanding.
