A leading international law firm with a highly regarded insurance litigation practice is seeking an experienced Property Damage Associate to join its Birmingham office. The team is recognised for acting on complex, high-value subrogated recovery claims and defending insurers, loss adjusters, and major corporates across a wide range of property-related disputes. You will be working within a market‑leading property risks group that offers excellent quality work and clear opportunities for career development.

As a Property Damage Associate, you will manage a diverse and stimulating caseload of property-related disputes arising from:

  • Fire, flood, escape of water, and impact damage
  • Construction and engineering failures
  • Defective products
  • Utilities-related incidents
  • High‑value subrogated recovery actions

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Running your own caseload of litigated and pre‑litigation property damage claims
  • Drafting pleadings, letters of claim/response, and technical advice for insurer clients
  • Conducting investigations with experts, engineers, surveyors, and loss adjusters
  • Attending conferences, mediations, and settlement discussions
  • Assisting partners with high-value and complex multi‑party disputes
  • Supporting the development of junior fee earners through supervision and mentoring
  • Developing strong relationships with insurer clients and key stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 3 years PQE in property damage, insurance litigation, or commercial litigation with relevant exposure
  • Strong technical knowledge of negligence, construction/product liability principles, and CPR
  • Experience handling your own caseload with autonomy
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills
