Your new company is a leading food manufacturing business in the Newtownards area seeking an experienced Hygiene Manager to lead hygiene operations within a fast-paced high-care environment. With food safety, quality and compliance at the heart of its operation, the business is committed to maintaining the highest hygiene standards while continuously improving performance, supporting audit readiness and developing a strong food safety culture across the site.

Your new role involves taking full responsibility for leading and developing the site hygiene function, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and regulatory compliance are consistently achieved. You will manage hygiene teams, oversee cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures, and ensure all production and high-care areas are maintained to the required standards. The role will involve managing chemical usage and COSHH compliance, verifying cleaning effectiveness through inspections and environmental monitoring, and ensuring the site remains audit-ready for BRCGS, customer and regulatory audits. You will also investigate hygiene-related non-conformances, implement corrective actions, support continuous improvement initiatives and work closely with Technical, Operations, Engineering and QA teams to drive hygiene performance and food safety culture across the business.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience as a Hygiene Manager or Senior Hygiene Supervisor within a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of high-care and high-risk food production environments
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP, GMP, BRCGS and COSHH requirements
  • Experience leading, developing and motivating hygiene teams
  • Strong audit management, investigation and root-cause analysis skills
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a positive food safety culture
  • Advanced Food Hygiene qualification desirable, with IOSH/NEBOSH and HACCP Level 3/4 qualifications advantageous
