Your new company is a well-established food manufacturing business in the Newry area seeking a Technical NPD Assistant to join the Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated food industry professional to gain exposure across both Technical and New Product Development activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Your new role involves supporting the Technical Manager and wider Technical team across a broad range of quality, food safety and NPD activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out routine quality checks
  • Verifying production records
  • Conducting hygiene and fabrication audits
  • Managing customer complaints and non-conformances
  • Maintaining documentation and supporting supplier approval processes
  • Involvement in traceability exercises, sample preparation and submission for external analysis, specification and labelling activities, and preparation for customer and BRC audits
  • Assisting with product trials, taste panels, shelf-life assessments and the documentation required to bring new products from concept through to launch

This is a varied role offering excellent exposure to both technical and product development functions within food manufacturing.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Third-level qualification in a food related discipline, ideally with exposure to the meat industry
  • Experience working within a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality and compliance processes
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • A flexible, adaptable approach and willingness to learn and develop within a technical and NPD environment
