Your new company HAYS are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and long-established main contractor as they seek to appoint a Senior Design Manager to their expanding team in Northern Ireland. Your new role As Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the complete design process on large-scale Design & Build projects, with values reaching €100m. Working closely with operational, commercial and delivery teams, you will ensure that design information is effectively managed from pre-construction through to project completion, driving programme certainty, buildability, value engineering and technical excellence throughout each stage of the project.
You will lead multidisciplinary design teams, manage consultant and subcontractor interfaces, chair design and coordination meetings, oversee information release programmes and ensure all technical, statutory and contractual requirements are achieved. As a senior member of the business, you will also provide leadership and mentorship to design personnel, helping to develop high-performing teams while maintaining exceptional standards of project delivery.
What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this position, you will possess a strong background in Design Management gained within a main contracting environment. Experience delivering major Design & Build schemes is essential, with a preference for candidates who have successfully delivered projects within the Republic of Ireland construction market. You should be comfortable operating in a client-facing capacity, managing multiple stakeholders and leading large design teams across complex projects.
You will demonstrate a proven ability to drive design programmes, manage risk, coordinate consultants and supply chain partners, and contribute to the successful delivery of major construction projects. Experience on projects valued up to €100m, coupled with excellent leadership, communication and commercial awareness, will be highly advantageous.
