To be successful within this role you will be a hands-on problem solver, capable of maintaining complex food processing equipment, fabricating food-grade stainless steel pipework and troubleshooting electrical control systems. You will ensure that all machinery operates at peak efficiency while adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards.

Whilst working your core duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance & Production Support
    • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on food processing equipment, including pasteurisers, separators, homogenisers, freezers and milk filling machines.
    • Minimise downtime by rapidly diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults during production runs.
    • Monitor production line efficiency and suggest engineering improvements to increase throughput or reduce waste.
    • Ensure all engineering work complies with HACCP, GMP and food safety regulations.
  • Stainless Steel Fabrication & Welding
    • Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel pipework and vessels to food-grade/sanitary standards (purge welding).
    • Fabricate and modify pipe runs, valve manifolds and support structures as required for line changes or upgrades.
    • Ensure all welds are smooth, crevice-free and pass sanitary inspections to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Electrical & Automation
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems ranging from low-voltage control circuits (24V) to 3-phase power systems (415V/480V).
    • Install, calibrate and maintain instrumentation (flow meters, temperature sensors, pressure transducers etc.).
    • Diagnose faults in motor starters, VFDs and PLCs.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics for fault-finding and installation of new machinery.

In order to be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Essential
    • 10+ years maintenance experience.
    • Trade qualification or degree: Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent trade certification.
    • Welding Proficiency: Proven experience in Stainless Steel TIG welding specifically for the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry (Sanitary welding experience is critical).
    • Electrical Competency: Certified electrical qualification (e.g., 17th/18th Edition) with experience in industrial fault-finding.
    • Industry Experience: Previous experience in a dairy, brewery, or FMCG environment.
    • Hygiene Awareness: Deep understanding of Clean-in-Place systems and hygienic design principles.
  • Desirable
    • Experience with PLC programming or troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi).
    • Experience with industrial refrigeration systems (Freon).
    • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.

This role offers a fantastic salary package of up to £47000 for working just a 4 day week (Tuesday- Friday 07:30- 18:00).
