Whilst working as a Die Maintenance Technician your core duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Works on Die servicing and sees process through to check sheet completion
- Oversees Manufacturing has spare Dies
- Supports Manufacturing for breakdowns
- Perform all duties associated with Die Maintenance
- Identify and correct Die problems independently
- Co-ordinate, control and carry out Die modifications e.g. RSV or Gate changes etc.
- Spotting of Dies, Wear Plates and Inserts (small or changeable)
- Perform all welding assignments without direction
- Operate ECC machine, Hydraulic press shot blasting equipment, overhead cranes & fork lift trucks
- Operate burning & welding equipment
- Understand company drawings & drawing tolerances
- Recognise and correct problems during Die assembly/disassembly
- Perform complex welding and finishing assignments e.g. Metal savers, Die breaks on Parting Lines, Profiles or around E/Pin holes etc.
- Hand finish (blend in) machining areas keeping within expected quality standards.
- Responsible for completion of all Check Sheets e.g. Build Sheets, Standard or urgent DMRs & DCR's
- Ensuring good Housekeeping/5S and Pl's are being carried out and completed, that Safety Procedures are being adhered to and ensuring compliance of others within department
- Complying with the Company Environmental Policy and the requirements of the Environmental Management System both in normal and emergency situations
- Participate in Information Sharing, Team Working and Continuous Improvement Programmes improving on Safety & Quality, reducing Die Downtime & Cost through raising Design Suggestion Sheet (DSS) request
- Be in control on back shifts, resolving any issues in regard to communication & decision-making
- Responsible for shift handover meetings ensuring all relevant information is passed on
- Responsible for checking Casting Shop, Production Paperwork and discussing with relevant people of any anomalies.
In order to be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following essential qualifications, skills, competencies and experience:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent from a mechanical maintenance background
- Welding experience
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Results focused
- Ability to work effectively within a team or individually
- Ability to see activities through to completion
- Ability to work shifts.
This role offers a starting hourly rate of ~£17. A period of 6-12 months of training will be required on days (38 hour week) before moving to a shift pattern (department dependent) and this will lead to an enhanced rate of pay when including the relevant shift premium.
