Your new company is an Independent Statutory Authority located in the North West. As a result of continued success and growth, Hays have been appointed to recruit a Governance Officer / Executive Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your career within a leading organisation.

Your new role involves reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. As Governance Officer, you will provide a high-quality Board Secretarial Function and support the Chair and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) by ensuring efficient coordination, communication and administrative support. As part of your role, you will provide comprehensive company secretarial support, including scheduling, minute-taking, and managing Board and Committee meetings. You will act as the primary liaison for Board members, ensuring seamless communication and coordination. You will maintain and update governance documentation, including the Risk Register and Board Management Software. Additionally, you will support the Chair, Chief Executive, and Board Secretary with governance best practices and legal compliance. You will manage diaries, travel arrangements, and confidential documentation for Executive Leadership Team members, and organise meetings, events, and catering logistics, ensuring a high standard of service.

What you will need to succeed: As Governance Officer / Executive Assistant, you will have obtained a relevant higher level business administration qualification and have at least one year’s relevant corporate governance or administration experience. You should have experience of using IT and core management information systems to extrapolate and present data and provide analysis. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email/calendar) is essential.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Educated to degree level standard or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Willingness or possession of a relevant Corporate Governance qualification, such as International Certified Corporate Governance Officer
  • Demonstrable proficiency in using emerging AI tools and automation solutions to improve executive efficiency while maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards
