A well established food manufacturing business in County Derry/Londonderry area is seeking an Environmental Officer Lead to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives within a growing manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining environmental standards, driving continuous improvement and supporting the site's long term sustainability objectives.

As Environmental Lead, you will be responsible for managing and continually improving the site's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring full compliance with environmental legislation, permits and company standards. Working closely with operational teams, you will monitor environmental performance across areas, including waste management, energy consumption, water usage, recycling and emissions. You will coordinate internal and external ISO 14001 audits, manage environmental improvement projects, support sustainability initiatives and prepare regular reports for senior management. The role will also involve liaising with regulatory authorities, supporting compliance requirements and investigating environmental incidents to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Good understanding of UK environmental legislation and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting, waste management, water treatment and energy management
  • Strong organisational, administrative and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the business
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience managing or supporting an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is desirable
  • A degree or qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or a related discipline would be advantageous
