A leading Northern Ireland-based product design and manufacturing organisation is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. Your new role
- As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of new products and continuous improvement of existing designs, working from concept through to production.
- You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and meet both customer and regulatory requirements.
- Design and develop innovative products using 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks or similar).
- Generate detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Support the full product lifecycle from concept through prototyping to validation.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams on Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Lead or contribute to design reviews, testing, and validation activities.
- Liaise with suppliers and external partners on components and tooling.
- Support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related discipline.
- Experience in a design engineering role within manufacturing.
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred).
- Knowledge of plastic components, injection moulding, or similar processes.
- Understanding of DFM / DFA principles.
- Experience with prototyping and product validation.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
