A leading Northern Ireland-based product design and manufacturing organisation is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. Operating globally, this innovative company specialises in the development of high-quality, user-focused products, combining strong engineering capability with meaningful real-world impact. With continued investment in product development, they are expanding their design function to support a strong pipeline of new and existing projects.

Your new role

As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of new products and continuous improvement of existing designs, working from concept through to production. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and meet both customer and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative products using 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks or similar)
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings and specifications
  • Support the full product lifecycle from concept through prototyping to validation
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams on Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Lead or contribute to design reviews, testing, and validation activities
  • Liaise with suppliers and external partners on components and tooling
  • Support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related discipline
  • Experience in a design engineering role within manufacturing
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Knowledge of plastic components, injection moulding, or similar processes
  • Understanding of DFM / DFA principles
  • Experience with prototyping and product validation
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
