Interim Housing Disrepairs Solicitor

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid working available)

Contract: 6-month interim assignment

Pay Rate: £55 per hour (via umbrella company)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Housing Disrepairs Solicitor to join our legal team on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a busy local authority in managing housing disrepair claims and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on and manage housing disrepair cases, including pre-action protocols and litigation.
  • Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Represent the authority in negotiations and, where necessary, at court hearings.
  • Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders on housing law and related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a current practising certificate.
  • Proven experience in housing disrepair litigation and homeowner/tenant law.
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload under pressure.
  • Previous experience within a local authority or public sector environment is desirable.
