Your new role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, integration and technical assurance of auxiliary systems across a complex marine platform. You will develop Stage 1 design solutions, prepare specifications, and ensure all outputs meet stringent quality and technical standards. You'll support the Zonal Integration process, ensuring 3D models accurately reflect design intent and comply with all requirements. Your work will include conducting specialist analyses, evaluating technical options, and producing evidence-based recommendations to support decision-making and resolve engineering challenges. Acting as a technical point of contact, you'll engage with customers and suppliers, support investigations, and contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes. You'll also provide guidance to less experienced engineers, helping to build capability across the team.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should bring:
- A degree in engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Strong experience in marine engineering, defence, oil & gas, nuclear, or building services.
- Knowledge of shipbuilding processes, mechanical, piping or pressure drop calculations.
- Experience developing technical specifications and working with suppliers and customers.
- Understanding of system design review & Analysis, processes and system integration.
- Ability to conduct technical investigations, evaluate options and make sound engineering decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support and mentor others.
