Your new company is a specialist Civil Engineering contractor, operating across the infrastructure, rail and renewable energy sectors with a continuously expanding portfolio of works based in County Tyrone. Due to continued growth and an increasing focus on sustainability and environmental performance, the company are now seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to support projects primarily across Northern Ireland.
As an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor, you will support the delivery of environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, including windfarms, rail and general civils works. You will ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and industry standards, assisting project teams with the implementation of environmental management plans and site-specific controls.
Your role will involve carrying out environmental inspections and audits, monitoring key environmental aspects such as waste management, pollution prevention, noise, dust, water usage and ecological protection measures. You will investigate environmental incidents and support the implementation of corrective actions, while also playing a key role in developing and delivering the company's sustainability strategy. This will include collecting and analysing environmental data such as carbon emissions, energy usage and waste performance, supporting Net Zero and carbon reduction initiatives, and contributing to sustainability reporting and client submissions. You will also deliver environmental briefings and toolbox talks to site teams and liaise with clients, regulatory bodies and external stakeholders as required. Your time will primarily be office-based at head office in Co. Tyrone, with regular visits to sites across Northern Ireland and occasional travel to ROI projects.
You will hold a third-level qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, alongside previous experience in an environmental or sustainability role within construction, utilities or civil engineering. Those in an overarching HSEQ role who have a passion for environmental are also encouraged to apply. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of environmental legislation and environmental management systems, including ISO 14001. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple projects.
